Last month we discussed the latest requirements for hospitals providing care to patients at risk for suicide. In fact, these requirements were extremely detailed making them difficult to remember and analyze. Flow charts are sometimes a helpful alternative. So we developed a suicide risk infographic to aid understanding.
In the November edition of Perspectives, the Joint Commission unveiled it’s conclusions on reducing suicide risks in inpatient hospital settings.
Everyone is still waiting for the TJC and CMS ligature risk recommendations. The topic remains in-flux. But, in the TJC September Executive Briefings, they did share additional details on ligature hazards. We hope the guidance gets committed to writing soon. But until then, here are our conclusions based on their verbal presentations.
