Emily Smith, BSN, RN, SCRN, is a dedicated healthcare professional with a passion for stroke patient care and experience in stroke program management and quality improvement. Her career began as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center from January 2015 to September 2021, where she cared for critically ill patients, served as a charge nurse, preceptor, and STAT/Stroke RN responder. Currently serving as the Stroke Program Supervisor at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Emily evaluates stroke program metrics, leads quality and data review meetings, supports quality improvement projects. At a system level, she mentors new Stroke Coordinators, attends state and national conferences, and coordinates system and site DNV Stroke Surveys.
Prior to this role, Emily was the Quality Improvement Coordinator at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center from September 2021 to July 2024. In this position, she participated in quality and regulatory surveys, served as a mock surveyor, oversaw Neuro Critical Care and Stroke Quality Review Committees, and played an active role in site length of stay, readmission, and mortality committees. Emily also has experience as a Stroke Navigator from January 2019 to September 2021, focusing on patient education, best practices, and transitions of care.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University (2015) and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Digital Transformation with a Healthcare Concentration at Northeastern University.
