Laurie Farmer, MSN, RN is a healthcare executive consultant with more than 35 years of experience in clinical operations, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and performance improvement across the healthcare continuum. She helps healthcare organizations strengthen quality, improve operational performance, and achieve sustainable readiness for accreditation and regulatory review.
Ms. Farmer has held senior leadership and consulting roles focused on quality, accreditation, patient safety, and clinical operations across acute care hospitals, pediatric hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, transplant services, surgical services, emergency care, and procedural settings. She is known for guiding organizations through complex compliance challenges while aligning operational strategy with quality and safety priorities.
Most recently, Ms. Farmer served as a Principal Consultant with Joint Commission Resources, where she partnered with healthcare organizations nationwide to improve survey readiness, strengthen compliance with Joint Commission and CMS requirements, and implement high reliability and patient safety strategies. Her work included mock surveys, regulatory response planning, leadership advisement, and performance improvement initiatives designed to reduce risk and improve care delivery outcomes.
She also served as a Nurse Surveyor with the Joint Commission in the pediatric cadre, conducting both triennial and for-cause surveys and evaluating compliance across a wide range of standards. Her experience as a former surveyor gives clients valuable insight into survey processes, standards interpretation, and system vulnerabilities that can impact accreditation outcomes.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Farmer held leadership roles with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she oversaw quality, accreditation, patient safety, and performance improvement within surgical and procedural services across multiple pediatric hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. Ms. Farmer’s areas of expertise include accreditation readiness, CMS compliance, patient safety, high reliability, performance improvement, immediate jeopardy response, and corrective action planning.
She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama. She is Lean Six Sigma certified and maintains Registered Nurse licensure in Georgia and Florida.
