Herk Johnessee, MSCIS, BSN, RN, is a healthcare consultant with more than 40 years of clinical, operational, and consulting experience across a wide range of healthcare settings. He brings extensive expertise in regulatory compliance, performance improvement, and healthcare operations, supporting organizations in strengthening quality, safety, and overall system effectiveness.
Mr. Johnessee has over 20 years of consulting experience, working with community hospitals, academic medical centers, and ambulatory care organizations both domestically and internationally. His work spans multiple accreditation and regulatory frameworks, including hospital, ambulatory, transport, and specialty programs, with a focus on helping organizations achieve and sustain compliance while improving operational performance.
His clinical background includes experience across emergency services, critical care, surgery, burn care, transport medicine, pediatrics, and maternal care. He has also held leadership and operational roles supporting service line development, quality initiatives, and accreditation readiness across complex healthcare environments.
In addition to his regulatory and clinical expertise, Mr. Johnessee brings strong experience in healthcare operations and technology, including supply chain optimization, change management, and electronic medical record implementation and optimization. He has worked extensively with Epic systems, supporting organizations through system design, implementation, and performance improvement initiatives.
Mr. Johnessee is known for his practical, solutions-focused approach and his ability to identify and address system-level challenges related to patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency. His consulting work emphasizes sustainable improvements that align clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and evolving healthcare technologies.
He holds a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
