Life Safety Code Consultant
Paul Jennings, PE is a Life Safety Code surveyor and consultant, with over 40 years of engineering experience. He most recently was the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Engineering at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. He has over 12 years of experience managing the Engineering, Telecommunications, and Sustainability departments at 7 acute care hospital campuses with over 1800 beds and one 150 bed extended care facility located throughout the Bronx and lower Westchester County. He is responsible for an annual expense budget of $60M to support approximately 4M square feet, including a 10 MW cogeneration plant.
He has over 11 years of pharmaceutical company facilities management experience having worked for Pfizer and most recently for Jones Lang LaSalle on their Pfizer account. His responsibilities were wide ranging and included directing facility maintenance and operations at Pfizer’s 4.5 million square foot Groton campus which was comprised of a combination of chemistry and biology laboratories, vivariums, pilot plants, office space, and other multi use areas. He led a team responsible for ensuring that applicable areas of the campus complied with the FDA and other regulatory requirements and had fiduciary oversight for the facilities department.
Mr. Jennings also spent 13 years with United Illuminating; a Connecticut based electric utility serving the majority of Fairfield and part of New Haven Counties. He spent the majority of his tenure at UI’s two primary power plants: the 600MW Bridgeport Harbor Station and the 450MW New Haven Harbor Station. His duties ranged from supervising the day-to-day maintenance of the stations to running large scale capital projects to overseeing major planned maintenance outages.
His career also took him to Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he designed environmental systems for Naval ships and submarines and to Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation where he began as a design engineer in their Light Commercial Equipment division.
Mr. Jennings graduated from the State University of New York Maritime College with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Marine Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University and a Master of Science degree in Management from Albertus Magnus College. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New York and Connecticut.
