Susan “Suzzi” Harper, JD, MSN, BSN, RN, CHC is a healthcare consultant with extensive experience in risk management, healthcare compliance, medical staff services, and regulatory preparedness. Her unique background as a registered nurse, attorney, and healthcare executive enables her to help organizations navigate complex regulatory, legal, and operational challenges while strengthening patient safety, organizational performance, and accreditation readiness.
Ms. Harper has held leadership roles overseeing risk management, medical staff services, compliance, credentialing, privileging, graduate medical education, and regulatory preparedness within large academic health systems. She has directed organizational responses to accreditation and regulatory surveys, developed enterprise-wide compliance programs and policies, managed physician credentialing and OPPE/FPPE processes, and partnered with executive and clinical leadership to improve governance, quality, and patient safety.
Prior to her healthcare leadership career, Ms. Harper practiced healthcare law, representing hospitals and healthcare professionals in complex medical malpractice litigation. Her legal experience, combined with more than a decade of neonatal intensive care nursing and flight nursing, provides a distinctive perspective on clinical operations, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and risk mitigation.
Ms. Harper is recognized for her collaborative approach and practical problem-solving, helping healthcare organizations identify risk, strengthen compliance programs, improve medical staff processes, and develop sustainable operational solutions. Her areas of expertise include risk management, healthcare compliance, credentialing and privileging, medical staff services, HIPAA, regulatory preparedness, patient safety, and healthcare governance.
She earned a Juris Doctor, Master of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri. She is a Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) professional and has held licensure as both a registered nurse and attorney.
