Marla Minton, MHA, BSE, RN, CNOR, LNC, CJCP, HACP-CMS|IP is a healthcare regulatory and accreditation compliance surveyor with more than 20 years of nursing and healthcare leadership experience. In this capacity, she provides Joint Commission and CMS-related consultation to clients nationwide, specializing in perioperative and procedural services, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance.
In addition to her consulting work, Ms. Minton has served in multiple senior leadership roles, including Senior Partner at Periop Accreditation Readiness, LLC, Interim System Chief Clinical Officer for an 11-clinic dermatology system, and Senior Director of Quality & Safety / Regulatory & Compliance with Premier. She has successfully directed multi-million-dollar perioperative departments and start-up hospitals, achieved zero sentinel events and guiding multiple organizations through initial TJC and CMS accreditation surveys without citation.
Ms. Minton has extensive expertise in surgical services construction, budgeting, and operations, overseeing projects ranging from $5 million ambulatory centers to $30 million perioperative service lines. She has also negotiated cost-saving contracts that generated millions in savings for health systems nationwide, led perioperative turnarounds that recovered lost charges and reduced annual denials by millions, and pioneered bariatric and robotic programs as part of Centers of Excellence initiatives.
An accomplished author and speaker, Ms. Minton wrote Per Physician’s Order: A Guide to Perioperative Documentation and has presented at national conferences including AORN, Becker’s Healthcare Symposium, and the OR Manager Conference. She is also a frequent educator on sterile processing, infection control, and regulatory readiness.
Ms. Minton earned her Master of Healthcare Administration from Grantham University, a Bachelor of Science in English and Education from Texas A&M, and her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northeast Texas Community College. She is a Registered Nurse in Texas and holds certifications including CNOR, CJCP, HACP-CMS, HACP-IP, Lean Six Sigma, and Crucial Conversations Trainer.
