Neil Stinnett, MS
Life Safety Code Consultant

Neil Stinnett, MS is a healthcare regulatory and accreditation compliance surveyor with nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare safety and compliance. He provides Joint Commission and CMS-related consultation to clients nationwide, with particular expertise in Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Occupational Safety programs.

Mr. Stinnett currently serves as the System Director of Environmental Health and Safety for Indiana University Health, a 16-hospital system with more than 45,000 team members. He oversees all aspects of environmental health and safety, including regulatory compliance, construction safety, fire and life safety, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene. He established the System Environmental Health & Safety Committee, aligning local and regional committee structures with system-level KPIs, and developed innovative training and regulatory readiness programs that strengthened organizational reliability and survey preparedness.

Over his career, Mr. Stinnett has directed safety and compliance initiatives across multiple large-scale construction projects, including a $4.2 billion academic medical campus consolidation and the $142 million Riley Hospital Maternity Tower. He has also partnered with state agencies and hospital associations to streamline construction plan approvals and update licensure rules, advancing system-wide patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Stinnett earned his Master of Science in Occupational Safety Management from Indiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Public Health from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. He is a member of the American Society of Health Care Engineering and the Indiana Society of Health Care Engineering and serves as a Principal on both the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code Health Care Occupancies Committee and the NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code Committee.

“We have had the privilege of working closely with Neil who demonstrates exceptional commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence. He combines foresight, attention to detail, and collaboration with a proactive approach to risk management.
