Dr. Steven D. Chinn, DPM, MS, MBA, FACHE, CJCP, CPHQ, CPPS has more than 35 years of clinical and senior management experience in acute care, behavioral health, ambulatory, and integrated delivery care settings. Dr. Chinn was formerly a Joint Commission surveyor for the hospital, ambulatory, behavioral health care, and network programs, as well as a health plan evaluator for the California Department of Corporation.
Currently, Dr. Chinn is a Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Primary Care and Population Health, Department of Medicine, Stanford School of Medicine, and his current focus is high reliability implementation and medical error reduction.
Dr. Chinn has extensive hands-on experience with quality management, patient safety, risk management, medical staff affairs, infection control, and health care operations. He has previously served as Accreditation/Regulatory Officer at Stanford Health Care, chief quality officer roles in the Kaiser Permanente and Veteran Health Administration systems. He has provided numerous presentations on hospital and ambulatory accreditation standards, performance improvement, patient safety, high reliability, and medical staff issues. He has provided consultation services throughout the United States and in France for academic, public, community and children medical centers, United States Department of Defense, Veteran Health Administration, and NASA.
