Fire Drills In Healthcare Settings

Fire drills are an important consideration for all healthcare organizations. Take these steps to ensure they are effective and compliant.

The November EC News contains a refresher article on the requirements for fire drills in various types of care settings.

Fire Drills

The authors remind organizations to ensure quarterly drills are random and not expected. So stage your drills so they are:

  • More than one hour apart
  • On different days of the week

It’s more challenging to quantify days of the week because the Fire Drill Matrix tool identifies dates, but not days of the week. Although altering days of the week is an important consideration to integrate into your process, we have not seen this area scored previously.

Patton Healthcare Consulting

Patton Healthcare Consulting can help you navigate the new normal. Our new remote consultation “Comprehensive Hybrid Readiness Review” is a hybrid remote/onsite support program. It is designed to assist with assessment and education to meet your needs going forward after this national emergency.

In addition, we understand the need for assistance without disrupting your organization or extensive costs. That’s the specific purpose of this program.  Contact us at (888) PHC-INC1 for more information or email us at ExpertAdvice@PattonHC.com.
