One of the biggest pieces of news for the beginning of this year is the new set of Life Safety Code requirements that will become effective July 1st — so set your calendars! This significant bit of information came from Perspectives as the Life Safety Standards Prepublication and is especially important for both hospitals and behavioral healthcare organizations business occupancies.
Life Safety Standards Prepublication
LS.05… This is the new standard you are going to want to pay attention to. These standards and EPs will surely change your opinion that TJC doesn’t really focus their same energy on business occupancy in physical environment issues — because they definitely will now. This focuses on your building and fire protection, vertical openings, egress integrity, hazards of fire and smoke, fire alarms, fire extinguishing equipment, and more.
Please provide your facilities and outpatient leadership with these new standards and develop a reporting process to senior leadership about anticipated difficulties ASAP! Do NOT get hit with RFIs!
