Interracial Medical Business Team Meeting in Boardroom

Coming from an article in the February 2021 Perspectives, “2021 Data Submission Process Enhancements,” The Joint Commission has “implemented a number of enhancements to its Certification Measure Information Process (CMIP) application.”  Essentially, they have made changes to the way in which data is to be entered.   This article is going to be especially important for the staff at your organization who enter your data, as these changes will directly affect them.

Certification Measurement Information Process

What is the Certification Measure Information Process (CMIP)?

It is Joint Commission’s software application available on your extranet to submit your organization’s certification performance measurement data.

The good news is that it does not appear that any new requirements have been established, but simply just some changes to the way in which the data is to be entered.  This looks pretty straightforward, so our suggestion is to simply refer the two pages to your data entry staff for their review and testing.

One thing to note is that this article also summarizes all of the quarterly data submission deadlines for 2021.  You will want to add these following dates to your calendars or set reminders to tickle your attention for when they are due:

  • 2021 Quarter 1: June 30, 2021
  • 2021 Quarter 2: September 30, 2021
  • 2021 Quarter 3: December 31, 2021
  • 2021 Quarter 4: March 31, 2022

While action on Quarter 1 reporting is not relatively time sensitive, finding the description of these changes in a few months might prove to be difficult, therefore our advice is to share the article with your staff now.
