A new matrix updates changes on how fire drills in ORs and hyperbaric services are scored. Read more about these requirements.

We made it to the third topic discussed in “From the Field Directors” article.  To recap, we have discussed their first two on-topic issues, spare circuit breakers and elevator wraps.  Their last issue talks about The Fire Drill Matrix update and adds clarity to an ambiguous issue on fire drills in ORs and hyperbaric services.

You are going to want to check out the 2021 update to their Matrix and share it with your leadership and colleagues.  You can find the update to share here.

Surveyors have talked about this and scored these deficiencies in the past, but there never has been an actual specific EP that makes this a clear requirement.  

Well, it is now clear — the Matrix update indicates that an annual drill in these unique-service and high-risk areas is, in-fact, required.
